Inzamam blames PCB for ICC's decision 2011 WC

Karachi, Apr 17: Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq has blamed the country's Cricket Board for the ICC's decision of shifting the 2011 World Cup from the strife-torn nation due to uncertain security situation.
An angry Inzamam said he along with some other former players had proposed to the PCB sometime back to take steps to invite a foreign team to Pakistan so as to showcase the nation as a safe sporting venue.

"We had suggested to them (PCB) to invite a world eleven side by paying the players handsome amount. Wasim Akram and others even offered to use their contacts and arrange for the players but the Board didn't respond at all," Inzamam said.

He said for international cricket to return to Pakistan, PCB needs to be more pro-active and work on a plan to convince other countries to visit the troubled nation.

"The former players thought inviting a world eleven would send out the right message to the ICC and other countries. I don't know why the PCB didn't follow on this suggestion," he said.

Inzamam also criticised PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt for his inability to stop the shifting of international tournaments from Pakistan.PTI
