Congress: power crisis, corruption issues for MP elections
Congress Party would highlight the issues of inadequate power supply and rampant corruption in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh in its election campaign for next month's assembly elections.
The senior Congress leader said that his party had lost in 2003 due to the power crisis prevailing in the state. "However after five years the power situation has gone from bad to worse in MP and Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government has only succeeded in spreading corruption from top to bottom," Singh said.
He added that the BJP government in the state is facing anti incumbency after five years of rule and would not be able to reach the magic triple digit figure in the November 25 polls.
Last time round BJP had swept the 230 seat MP assembly by winning at 173 seats while Congress could only manage 38 seats.
Singh also dismissed Uma Bharti's reported claim that the fight in the forthcoming assembly elections would be between Congress and her party Bhartiya Janshakti.
"She knows who are the main contestants in the state and as BJP is the ruling party there, our fight is with the saffron party," Singh said.
