Tamil Nadu records fifth swine flu case
Madurai, Jun 25:An eight-year-old boy, hospitalised here on June 20 for suspected swine flu after returning from the US, has tested positive, the fifth case in Tamil Nadu.
Government Rajaji Hospital Dean (in charge) S M Shivakumar told reporters today that the boy had been quarantined.
The boy, who was visiting his grandparents here, on reaching Mumbai airport from New Jersey ad complained of fever and cough.
He was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital and later shifted to Madurai. His throat swab samples were sent to National Insitute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the doctor said.
"We have started administering Tamiflu from today.
Another swab test would be taken on Sunday."
The Director of Public Health S.Elango said the boy should be kept in the isolation war of the GRH for ten days.
The family members who accompanied him should voluntarily come forward to get tested. PTI
