UP govt announces trader-friendly measures
Lucknow, Jun 25: In order to remove corruption and stop victimization of traders and business community, Uttar Pradesh government today abolished trade tax checkposts in the state.
A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati here.
There were 83 such check posts in the state when the Mayawati government had come to power and it had reduced the number to 37.
Briefing the mediapersons about the Cabinet decisions, Ms Mayawti said that state government had decided to abolish all the remaining 37 checkposts. ''It will stop the harassment of the traders and eliminate the scope of corruption,'' she said.
In another trader-friendly measure, the UP government decided to make Form 38 web-based and the traders could download from the trade tax department website and submit it without going to the trade tax office.
The CM said from now on the traders ledger book could also be updated through website which would be a great respite for the business community.
'' Amendment would be made in the Act to include these benefits,'' she said.
