Swine flu: Delhi reports 4 more positive cases, total 35
New Delhi, June 17 : Three boys and a 35-year-old woman have tested positive for swine flu in the national capital raising the number of cases nationwide to 35 as a concerned Punjab government ordered mandatory check-up of students returning from foreign tours.
The woman and her six-year-old son reached Delhi on June 11 from Chicago and reported about flu symptoms four days later. A 17-year-old boy who arrived from Washington and reached Delhi on June 14 and another 10-year-old, who came from Canada, also tested positive.
With this, the number of swine flu infected patients in Delhi has risen to 10, of which five have already been discharged from hospital after treatment.
The Punjab government issued the instructions in the wake of detection of swine flu cases among students, who recently visited NASA in the US. Of the 14, blood samples of seven have been found to be negative while the rest, who tested positive, are undergoing treatment and recovering fast.
In Hyderabad, a 30-year-old labourer, who arrived from Kuwait, was hospitalised with suspected symptoms of swine flu. The condition of five patients in Andhra Pradesh who tested positive is satisfactory and they are progressing well, officials said.
In Kerala two passengers, including a US national, who arrived in Kochi from Dubai, were quarantined for suspected A (H1N1) flu. Meanwhile, the lone swine flu patient admitted in Goa's health facility was discharged after his swab samples recorded negative for the virus. PTI
