BJP, Sena demand action against Padamsinh Patil
New Delhi, June 8: Sharad Pawar's NCP today came under pressure for action against party MP Padamsinh Patil, who has been arrested in the murder of a Maharashtra Congress leader.
BJP General Secretary Gopinath Munde said Patil should resign as Member of Parliament or his party should expel him and criticised Pawar's reported statement that Patil is a respectable leader.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut demanded the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Jayant Patil in view of the CBI action against the NCP MP in the case earlier probed by the state police.
Munde said his party has been raising the issue in the Maharashtra assembly and if required, it will also raise it in Parliament.
The NCP said it will "completely dissociate" itself from Patil, if charges against him are proved.
"If the charges are proved, then the NCP will completely dissociate itself from Patil," senior NCP leader and Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said. PTI
