Mumbai, May 28: Virtually giving a clean chit to the police department in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks probe, the high-level committee appointed by Maharashtra government said "no police can deal with (such) a war-like situation".
"No police can deal with the war-like situation. There were lapses while dealing with the attack. However, what police did was admirable," R G Pradhan, a member of the committee, told reporters here today.

Pradhan and former RAW deputy chief V Balachandran, another member of the committee, earlier today submitted its report to Chief Minister Ashok Chavan at Mantralaya.

Praising the police force, Pradhan said "many young officers were involved in the rescue operations and their bravery was admirable." "Some were injured and some even died," he said, adding "prompt action was taken by police." The State Government has undertaken some police reforms before submission of the report, he said. PTI
