New Delhi, May 26:Paramilitary headquarters are bustling with activity and preparing presentations for Home Minister P Chidambaram, who wants to have first hand knowledge of their functioning.

Home Ministry sources said that Chidambaram, who took over the ministry yesterday, held a meeting with Central Paramilitary Forces Director Generals during which he told them that he would be visiting the headquarters to interact with officers and jawans.

The forces have already started preparing their presentations to be given to Chidambaram which may contain some of the force's long pending demands like additional grants, new arms and ammunition, risk allowance among others.

The visit to the CPMF offices, which are responsible for internal security, assumes significance because in his first interaction with the media after taking charge yesterday, he said the new government will respond to any threat to security, public order and communal harmony "with speed and decisiveness".

The minister is also likely to inspect the control rooms of the forces, which have been linked to Multi Agency Centre as part of an effort to strengthen and streamline the intelligence wing of police forces.
