PM keeps post-poll alliance issue open
"Congress and its allies will be able to form the government. (But with regard to) other options, I am not ruling out or ruling in (anything)... It will depend on how the situation evolves,"
New Delhi, Apr 20 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today kept the issue of post-poll alliances open, saying he did not rule anything in or out and everything will depend on the result of Lok Sabha elections.
"Congress and its allies will be able to form the government. (But with regard to) other options, I am not ruling out or ruling in (anything)... It will depend on how the situation evolves," he told reporters here when asked how many allies he visualised for UPA after the elections.
He went on to add that if the UPA is able to form the government after the elections, "there will be no need to go in for (tie-ups). We will cross the bridge when we reach." Singh was speaking after releasing a book 'A Better India -- A Better World' authored by Infosys Chief Mentor N R Narayan Murthy at his residence.
To a question, the Prime Minister said "we have had very large number of allies. We have enough experience to handle complex issues." He replied in the negative when asked whether he was "nervous". "Life is not worth living if there is no problem," he added.
On whether he had any regret, Singh said he was a "very satisfied" man. "When I look back, we have completed more than 80 per cent of the promises except the Women's Reservation issue," he said. PTI
