J-K reels under intense cold wave
Srinagar, Jan 12, 2009: High altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir continue to shiver in intense cold as night temperature showed downward trend for the past one week. Pahalgam, a hill resort in south Kashmir, was the coldest place in the state as the night temperature dipped to minus 6.4 degrees Celsius, MET office said. Qazigund recorded a low of minus 5.5 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara and
Banihal recorded a minimum of minus 2.7 and minus 1.6 degree Celsius respectively.
Srinagar, summer capital of the state, witnessed a low of 2.4 degrees Celsius.
While, Jammu, winter capital, recorded a minimum temperature of 6.7 degrees Celsius, the met office said.
