New Jammu and Kashmir CJ, 6 Kerala, Gauhati AJs Appointed

New Delhi Dec 30: The appointment of the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and six Additional Judges of the High Courts of Kerala and Gauhati by President Pratibha Patil was announced today.

Patna High Court Judge Barin Ghosh has been appointed the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, the Law and Justice Ministry said in a statement.

Advocates Surendra Mohan Kuriakose, Parappillil Ramakrishnan Nair Ramachandra Menon, Chandra Villa Koyanalipilla Abdul Rehim and Chudalayil Thevan Ravikumar were appointed as Kerala High Court Additional Judges in that order of seniority, the Ministry said in another statement.

It also announced the appointment of Arun Chandra Upadhyay and Chitta Ranjan Sarma as Additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court in that order of seniority.

All appointments take effect from the respective dates of assumption of office and each Additional Judge is to have a two year term. UNI
