Police busts gang of bike lifters; 2 arrested

Doda, Dec 30: In a major breakthrough police claimed to have busted a gang of bike lifters by arresting two persons from whose possession at least thirteen motorcycles were recovered.

The motorcycles recovered from the accused were claimed to have been stolen from Jamu and other parts of the state and were sold in Bhaderwah.

The accused have been identified  as Kuldeep Kumar son of Om Parkesh resident of New plot Jammu and Mahesh Kumar son of Shive Ram of Preem Nager Jammu.

Giving details SSP Doda Prabhat Singh told that the gang of bike lifters was operating in Jammu and Bhaderwah and were involved in number of theft cases. "We have so far recovered at least thirteen stolen bike from their possession and some more recoveries were expected", he said.

He said that based on inputs a special team of police headed by SDPO Bhadarwah Abdul Qayoom and SHO Varinder Singh busted the gang and arrested the accused.

ASP Bhaderwah TR Katoch told NAK that the gang was operating in the area from last several months and had even managed to sell some of the motorcycles. He said that Kuldeep Kumar used to lift motor cycles from Jammu and later hand over the same to Mahesh Kumar, who was working as a mechanic in Bhaderwah.

A case against the accused has been registered under FIR no 133 under RPC section 380 in Bhadarwah police station for further investigation. (NAK)
