People to bring NC back to power: Dr Abdullah
Srinagar Dec 18: Dr. Farooq Abdullah former chief minister and patron National Conference said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir state are not slaves at the hands of Delhi rulers but are the real masters of their soil and will once again defeat their dubious design by giving an absolute clear majority to the National Conference.
Dr. Abdullah who addressed dozens of election meetings and road shows at Dalgate, Hazratbal, Omarhair, Ahmed Nagar and Rangpora in Hazratbal constituency here today said some people in New Delhi have never wanted a stable one party government in the state and instead have been trying their best to somehow divide the mandate of the people, but the people of Jammu & Kashmir, he said will once again repose their faith in National Conference and will give an absolute clear majority to their party (NC).
Dr. Abdullah said that at the end of the six phases of the state assembly elections, the PDP is demoralized and desperate after having realized that they got nothing in the six phases of the elections.
The false, hollow promises made by the Muftis in the 2002 assembly elections have exposed them before the people of the state and the people of Jammu & Kashmir will now defeat their (PDP's) dubious design through ballot by giving an absolute clear majority to the National Conference, Dr. Abdullah said.
"Fortunately now the people of Jammu & Kashmir have seen through their manipulative, self-centered politics and so shall defeat the PDP and remove it form the political scape of the state", Dr. Abdullah said.
Castigating the erstwhile PDP-Congress coalition for bringing miseries and disharmony in the state, Dr. Abdullah said this coalition government brought miseries and disharmony within the state and the National Conference government which will be a single party government will provide a stable government which will be committed for the welfare of the people of the state and shall work for their welfare and wellbeing.
Dr. Abdullah said his party has conceived a vision for the people of the state, the vision of a prosperous and developed state in which every individual lives with dignity and earns his livelihood. He said the party after coming to power will ensure that this vision is backed up by a competent delivery mechanism so that its benefit reaches to the grass root level, which he said will be a step ahead in transforming the destiny of the people of the state.
"We are committed to give practical shape to each and every word scripted in our manifesto", Dr. Abdullah said.
NC patron said Dal Lake is the mirror of Kashmir and the party after coming to power will work for its proper development and will ensure proper rehabilitation of the Dal dwellers.
Dr. Abdullah said his party will come out with a special package for employment of the youth and shall open new avenues for the young unemployed in the state and will ensure that there is atleast one earning hand in each family. He also promised that National Conference government will also provide stipend to the unemployed till they are suitably employed.
Dr. Abdullah said the National Conference after coming to power will re-start the process of recruitment of youth in the Police department by sending the Director General of Police to remote areas as was being done in the previous National Conference government. He said the party would also focus on providing clean drinking water, better road connectivity, specialized health care facilities and above all better education to the children.
Referring to the steep rise in prices of the essential commodities, NC Patron said the failure of the erstwhile coalition government to check the rising price of essentialities has broken the back of a common man. Dr. Abdullah promised that if voted to power the National Conference government will lower the cost of essential commodities by 25-30% and subsidize LPG and electricity tariff and will open fair price shops in every village so as to ensure that the poor people could get all the basic essentialities at reasonable rates.
Dr Farooq Abdullah asked the voters to exercise their franchise in favour of his party so that the vision of a prosperous state is given practical shape.
Senior National Conference leaders Abdul Rahim Rather, Mohd Akbar Lone, Mohd Sayeed Akhnoon and Sheikh Ghulam Rasool also accompanied Dr. Abdullah. (NAK)
