Student commits suicide after being slapped by father in Rajouri

Jammu, Dec 18, 2008: A teenager committed suicide after he was slapped by his father in the presence of school staff during parent-teachers meet in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources here today said. A XII standard student Ravinder Singh consumed some poisonous substance after he was allegedly slapped by his father Fulail Singh, resident of Jawahar Nagar during the parent-teachers meet yesterday, Rafiq Manhas, Station House Officer Rajouri told UNI.

The Police officer said the deceased left the school after he was slapped by his father and did not reach home till late evening.

Singh was found unconscious near a cremation ground and was immediately shifted to the hospital where the doctors referred him to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu but he died on the way, sources added.

Meanwhile, police has registered the case under section 174 CrPC and started the investigations.
