NC does not belive in hollow slogans and false promises. Omar Abdullah

Bani, Dec 6: Omar Abdullah President J&K National Conference appealed to the people of the state to be wary of political parties playing the religious or regional card for vote bank politics. Addressing a series of public meetings in the Bani Constituency along with the National Conference candidate Ghulam Hyder Malik, Omar said its unfortunate that the some National & regional political parties are trying to create a religious wedge between the people of the state which he said will adversely effect the secular fabric of the state. He warned that such divisive politics has communal overtones which will have dangerous ramification for the unity and integrity of the state which cannot be compressed at any cost.

The National Conference President appealed to the people of the state to defeat the communal forces in the state. He said the state has always been an example of secular values and should remain so. He said, there are traditional bonds of brotherhood between people of different religions and regions in the state and those bonds need to be strengthened and the forces which are trying to weaken them should be identified and isolated.

Omar said National Conference has always been a strong votary of secularism, communal harmony and brotherhood and shall continue to uphold these values in the interest of the state and its people.      

Omar said unlike the PDP & Congress his party does not believe in hollow slogans and false promises and as such he and his colleagues will never make promises that the party cannot live upto. He however said National Conference if voted to power will re-start the process of recruitment of youth in the Police department by sending the Director General of Police to remote areas as was being done in the previous National Conference government. He said the party will also lower the qualification bar for appointment of constables in Police department and Class IV category to middle pass and not matric as imposed by the erstwhile PDP-Congress government.

Omar also promised filling up of 40000 posts lying vacant in various government departments through fast track recruitment drive, besides, focusing on providing clean drinking water, better road connectivity, specialized health care facilities and   above all better education to the children, he said.

Omar said the coalition partners brought "corruption", "unemployment" and "no development", Omar said adding that despite huge flow of funds from the Government of India, the coalition partners were not able to utilize the same on ground for which they are accountable.

Omar also promised that if voted to power the National Conference government will lower the cost of essential commodities by 25-30% and will open fair price shops in every village so as to ensure that the poor people could get all the basic essentialities at reasonable rates.
