Mian Bashir canvases for NC, Omar welcomes high voter turnout
Kalakote Nov 17: Welcoming the good turnout of the voters during the first phase of election which was held today in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, National Conference President Omar Abdullah has termed it as a positive indication towards a better future and a stable state.
Addressing a series of public meetings at Darhal, Kalakote and Budhal Omar Abdullah accompanied by veteran Gujjar leader Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi said the huge turnout of voters during the first phase of election has proved everyone in the state wrong. He said this turnout of the people to exercise their constitutional right is an eye-opener and proves that while the people of the state want the Kashmir issue to be resolved they also want to exercise their franchise in these assembly elections to assert their right and elect the representatives to the state assembly who can right earnestly work for the welfare of the people and address their day to day grievances which have increased manifold due to the mis-governance of the erstwhile PDP-Congress government.
Omar said PDP-Congress performance report card is dismal and they have nothing to show to the people as to what they have done for them during their six years barring false promises & hollow slogans. He said different political groups got together to form a coalition government not for the people of the state but for their own personal petty vested interests, which led to an administrative anarchy and brought the process of development in the state to a standstill.
Omar castigated the PDP-Congress government for indulging in divisive politics. He said both the PDP & Congress tried to divide the people of the state on regional , religious, caste and ethnic basis for vote bank politics thereby destroying the traditional secular fabric of the state . He said voted to power National Conference will work to restore the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood among the people of the state.
Veteran Gujjar leader Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi addressed all the meetings and appealed to the people to vote for National Conference because he said the National Conference is the only party which has the will and the capacity to work for the betterment of the state and upliftment of the downtrodden.
Others who were present were Kr. Rachpal Singh & Ch. Liaqat Ali NC candidates from Kalakote and Darhal respectively besides Ab. Gani Malik, ex-MLA and Devender Singh Rana, MLC.
