Compare PDP with decades long mis-governance of NC: Mehbooba

Poonch November 07: President of Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Ms Mehbooba Mufti today asked the people to compare three year regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayed with 30 years mis-rule of National Conference while casting their votes in the assembly elections.
Ms Mufti, who conducted whirlwind tour of Mandi, Phalera, Loran, Sabjaina, Digwar and other border areas of Poonch assembly constituency in support of party candidate Imtiyaz Bandey, said that in his three year tenure Mufti Mohammad Sayed has set an example of good governance. "Unlike previous regimes where corruption and nepotism were legitimized, Mufti Mohammad Sayed has brought transparency and accountability in his government", she said, adding, "Dignity and honour of the people were restored as notorious STF was disbanded and draconian laws like POTA were abolished".
PDP chief, however, regretted that efforts of the Mufti Mohammad Sayed were spoiled by his successor Ghulam Nabi Azad to whom Mr Sayed had handed over the power after completion of his three year tenure. "Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a crucial juncture and it is hightime to elect a visionary leader like Mufti Mohammad Sayed as Chief Minister of the State to take this region on the path of development and economic growth", she said and termed PDP as a movement to change fate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir through its visionary policies for restoring lasting peace in this region.
Ms Mufti said that PDP was formed 1998 to provide an alternative to the National Conference which had miserable failed to come up to the expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"From 1977 to 2002, it was National Conference which ruled the State through out these years but it failed to deliver good governance to the people", she said and asked the gathering to compare performance of the three year coalition regime headed by PDP with the successive governments of National Conference".
Unlike previous National Conference regimes wherein corruption and backdoor appointments were routine affairs, PDP led regime brought transparency and accountability in the government, she said and recalled that massive recruitment drive were launched during his government but not even a single complaint of nepotism and backdoor appointment came to the notice of the authorities.
Taking a dig at previous National Conference regime for indulged into backdoor appointments, PDP chief said, adding "during our government we appointed as many as 50,000 teachers and all appointments were made in transparent manner". She reminded that even appointment orders were handed over to the candidates at their door steps to bring transparency.
Former Minister Moulvi Iftikar Hussain Ansari, Yashpal Sharma and local leaders addressed the gathering and asked the people to cast vote in favour of party candidate Imtiyaz Bandey.
During her visit on the border areas of Poonch, Ms Mufti was accorded rousing reception at several places. People expressed their gratitude towards PDP leadership for convincing both Indian and Pakistani governments to announce ceasefire on LoC. People said that it was all due to the on-going ceasefire that they have been living peacefully.
