EX-MLC attacked by PDP workers; Pasting poster sparked scuffle

Bandipora, Nov 07: People's Democratic Party workers attack senior congress leader's house in North Kashmir's Bandipora district last night, while a section People attacked National Conference candidate Muhammad Akbar Lone when he was heading to an election rally in north Kashmir's Bandipora district.

PDP workers attacked the family members of Ex-Member Legislative Council (MLC) and senior Congress leader Habibullah Bhat when a group of PDP party workers were forcibly pasting PDP posters on the main gate and fencing wall of Bhat's residential house.

Alleging PDP workers of violating ECI norms Habibullah said, "A group of PDP workers were forcibly pasting the party poster over front gate my residential house, though our family members tried stop them but they attacked in retaliation."

"It is against the ECI norms to deface the private property of any person how they were pasting the big posters on our property" said Baht, adding, "We have complained before the District Election Officer and have filed a report in police station Bandipora"

PDP nominee Nizamudin Bhat said, "We belong to peace loving party, these are rivals who are trying to malign our image in public, our workers do nothing wrong"

"A team of officers was deputed to investigate the matter that to verify about the violation of ECI norms," said Assistant election Officer Bashir Ahmed. 

When confirmed from police station Bandipora officers wishing not to be named said, "we received the complaint from the congress leader and investigate the matter during which we arrested three PDP workers who were later released on bail today".
Meanwhile, a section of people attacked National Conference candidate and former Deputy Speaker Legislative Assembly Advocate Muhammad Akbar Lone when he was heading election rally north Kashmir's Bandipora district.

"Lone was attacked by the a mob staging pro-freedom procession after the Friday prayers" Eyewitness said, adding, "People were protesting against the election and Lone was heading his rally during which youths get uncontrolled and attack him at Malpora Saderkoot"

However, sources said that heavy security cover headed by Deputy Superintendent of police Sumbal Harmeet Singh acted immediately disperses the mob and Lone escaped unhurt.  

"Cops succeeded in dispersing the mob and Lone escaped" Ahasn added

It is here pertinent to mention that it is the sixth attacked on Lone while trying to address the voters in Sonawari constituency of Bandipora, before he was attacked in Naidkhai, Sumbal and Hajin. (NAK)
