APHC rally against India on black day Memorandum to UN Chief demands plebiscite in J&K
Muzaffarabad Oct 27: To mark the 27 October— the day of invasion and occupation by Indian troops, as a black day in the history of Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK organized a big procession and sit-in before the UNMOGIP office Muzaffarabad today. In this connection APHC leaders and the leaders of other organizations marched towards the office of the UN military mission. The people participating in the rally held placards, banners and black flags in their hands and raised slogans with enthusiasm demanding withdrawal of Indian troops and holding of plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. Leaders of different organizations addressed the rally.
Amid high pitched and forceful slogans against Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and Human Rights violations by Indian army and police in the area convener of Hurriyat Conference Muhammad Farooq Rehmani presented a memorandum to the commander of the UN mission in Muzaffarabad. The memorandum has been addressed to the Secretary General Mr. Ban ki-Moon.
The UN mission officials ensured its safe dispatch to New York. In his memorandum the convener of Hurriyat Conference Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has stated that India's existence in Jammu and Kashmir depends on state terrorism and military might. It says India has further re-enforced its military might to crush the present movement using brute force of unimaginable proportions against the Kashmiris. The memorandum says that the people are arrested daily in large numbers under terror laws to force Kashmiris to participate in the farce of assembly elections. It further states that the recent million uprising has shattered the Indian claim on Kashmir showing once again the simmering resentment.
The memorandum makes it clear that India tries to divert the attention of the world community towards the gamble and farce of elections.
Regarding the trans-LOC trade the APHC is of the view that it is the basic right of Kashmiris but trade alone and elections under the Indian constitution cannot help to resolve the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir. The only solution of Kashmir lies in granting the right of self determination to the people of Kashmir. All Parties Hurriyat Conference convener in his memorandum has sought intervention of the United Nations and abrogation of terror laws failing which the peace process will remain hollow, inconsistent and incoherent and will end in failure, loss of many more lives and destabilization of the region.
