Abandoned newly born looks for guardians

Jammu: It is shocking to hear but it's true. A woman left her newly born baby in the Ward of the Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh memorial (SMGS) hospital yesterday.

The child was ailing and he was undergoing treatment in the hospital under the supervision of some senior doctors and hospital staff.

Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that a woman left her newly born baby in Ward number 1 of the SMGS hospital yesterday. She asked the woman who was undergoing treatment in the same Ward to take care of her child on the pretext that she had to go to the Blood bank to deposit her blood sample. She kept the baby on the bed of woman and left the Ward yesterday.

The child started weeping after few hours and when the woman not returned, the woman who was taking care of the child informed her family members and the Ward nurse. They were informed Police Post SMGS hospital who along with police team rushed to the Ward.

As the child was suffering from some intestinal infection, the police requested the hospital authorities to provide the baby necessary treatment.

Sources said that the child was under the supervision of the senior doctors and necessary treatment was given.

Concerned Police officer when contacted told News Agency of Kashmir that they are trying to locate the mother and other family members. The infant is being provided treatment at the hospital by the doctors and some social organizations had come forward to accept the child but we are waiting if some family members or guardians are traced.
