Centre sanctions 4 new projects worth Rs. 100 cr for CAD & WM in J&K
Srinagar October 19: Union Ministry for Water Resources have sanctioned four new projects costing, over Rs. 107 crore for Command Area Development and Water Management (CAD & WM) in Jammu and Kashmir. These include three projects costing Rs. 81.96 crore for Ganderbal, Sonawari and Kulgam-Shopian areas in Kashmir Division and one project costing Rs. 25.42 crore for Jammu Division. Implementation on all the four projects would be completed in next five fiscal years and about 31328 hectares in Kashmir Division and 9028 hectares in Jammu Division would be brought under Command Area Development and Water Management on its completion.
These projects were sanctioned at a meeting of Inter-Ministerial Sanctioning Committee held yesterday at New Delhi under the chairmanship of Additional Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India. The meeting was convened to discuss and approve various projects under Command Area Development Programme for different states of the country.
The Jammu and Kashmir State was represented by the Director, Command Area, Kashmir, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Shah and Director, Command Area, Jammu, Ms. Nirmal Sharma, who gave a detailed and impressive presentation about the projects for seeking approval and sanction of the centre. The Centre would provide 50 percent of the total estimated cost for execution of these four projects.
