Impressed by its agenda, Baji Sahib and his supporters joined PDP

Srinagar Sep 19: Stating that the pro-people agenda of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its and unflinching stand on significant issues including the resolution of Kashmir has motivated him to join politics under the party banner, Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah Alias Baji Sahib along with his hundreds of supporters today joined the PDP in presence of party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and other party leaders.
Syed Muzaffar Shah is a very popular religious figure with considerable influence across the state, especially in Poonch and Rajouri districts. He belongs to a very well known family of saints known as Nanga Bajis of Malangam-Bandipora. He has been rendering social and religious services from the last so many years and has contributed a lot in spreading the religious message among the Gujjar and Pahari Community of the State. Baji Sahib is well known for his piety who has been playing a very vital role in upholding human values among his followers who also include devotees from Hindu and Sikh communities.
While speaking on the occasion Baji Sahib said that the unique stand shown by PDP since its formation in 1999 and the work it has accomplished during its period in power motivated him to join the party folds. He said that it was the PDP under the able leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed which changed the dismal scenario in Kashmir and brought this state back on rails. Baji Sahib further added that he was impressed by the PDP agenda which included withdrawal of troops, repealing of draconian laws like AFSPA, release of detunes, infrastructural development, opening of roads across the border including Poonch-Rawlakote road for trade and people to people contact and above all the resolution of vexed Kashmir issue.
Mr Sayeed while welcoming Baji Sahib said that Baji Sahib's joining will further disseminate the pro-people agenda of PDP in far-flung areas, which have been neglected by the successive government in the State. Ms Mehbooba Mufti and Mr Kara have also welcomed the new entrant into the party folds. The prominent among the hundreds of supporters of Baji Sahib who joined the PDP are Haji Abdul Khaliq Quershi, Syed Asghar Ali Shah, Haji Mohammad Maqbool, Arshad Mahmood and Abdul Aziz.
