Govt endeavours to come up to the expectations of people: Taj
Baramulla, April 23 (INFO)-Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Taj Mohi-ud-Din has said that present government has been endeavouring to come up to the expectations of people by extending improved basic facilities like drinking water, power, education, road connectivity and other amenities even in far flung and inaccessible areas of the state. He asked the people to vote for the parties on the basis of their performance in the upcoming assembly elections.
Addressing a public gathering on the occasion of upgrading of the local school to High level at Peranpela, Uri today, the Minister said five rooms of the school building have been completed while the remaining ones will be completed shortly. A total of Rs. 15.30 lakhs is being expended.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Uri, tehsil officers and some Congress leaders were present on the occasion.
The Minister said Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi visited Uri to share the agonies of people when earthquake hit the valley in October 2005. He said apart from releasing Rs. 4500 crore as relief another Rs. 200 crore were provided for reconstruction of infrastructure in Uri tehsil. He said to stabilize irrigation facilities in the area, a life irrigation scheme costing Rs. 12 crore would be constructed.
