Human Rights Commission admits ANC's petition on Recent Killings

Srinagar July 08: On the advise of the Party President and former Chief Minister Mr. G. M. Shah, the Human Rights cell of the ANC headed by Advocate Mir Mohammad Shafi and Senior party leader Mr. Muzzaffar Shah, has filed a petition before the State Human rights Commission regarding the recent spat of killings on Shri Amarnath Shrine Board issue, by the security forces. The JK ANC has demanded.
That the seven innocent, unarmed civilians killed in the SASB agitation be compensated at Rs. 50.00 lacs per head.
That a government job be given to the next of kin of the deceased.
That all necessary rehabilitation measures be taken to rebuild the families.
That the security personnel involved in these unwarranted killings be dismissed from service immediately.
That criminal prosecutions be initiated against the personnel and their commandants.
The head of the unified command be held responsible for the killings and criminal proceedings be initiated against him.
The Hon¢ble Human Rights Commission has taken a very serious note of the matter and while admitting the petition the commission has directed the respondents to show cause as to why relief prayed for should not be granted. The case has been fixed for further proceedings on 27th of July 2008.
