Srinagar July 08: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today demanded immediate imposition of Governor's rule to end political uncertainty in the state, saying there was no provision of a caretaker government under the state Constitution.
"Under article 92 of J-K Constitution, there is no provision for a caretaker government. Hence, we request the president to impose governor's rule in the state early to end political uncertainty," JKNPP Chairman Bhim Singh told reporters here today.
Governor N N Vohra while accepting the resignation of Ghulam Nabi Azad government yesterday asked him to continue till alternative arrangements were made.
Singh said promulgation of Governor's rule in the state be expedited.
He welcomed the fall of the Azad-led government saying the coalition government brought more miseries to the people rather than resolving them.
Azad government had failed on every front and the latest blunder of transferring the land to Amarnath Shrine Board and later revoking it sparked off protests here, he said.
He said he hope that the upcoming elections would be held in a free and fair manner under the Governor's rule.
