Vakil Inaugurates Crafts Exhibition

Srinagar June 20: Social Welfare Minister Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil today inaugurated Crafts Exhibition organised by State Women Development Corporation at Tourist Reception Centre here.
As many as 32 stalls have been put up in the exhibition for sale of wide ranging handicraft products produced by women self help groups from all over the state.
The products showcased in the 7- day long exhibition include shawls, sozni, soft toys, paper machie, chikri wood items, suits, chain stitch, embroidery, ari-work, sozni -embroidery, etc.
The Minister inspected each stall put up in the exhibition and evinced keen interest in products of exquisite beauty. He praised the dexterity of the craftswomen and appreciated their art.
Vakil appreciated organizing of the exhibition in peak tourist season to promote marketing avenues for products of women entrepreneurs of the state.
Earlier, Managing Director of Women Development Corporation Dr. Naheed Soz said that her organization not only makes available credit to the women entrepreneurs but endeavours to provide them marketing support also. She said the aim of the corporation was to promote economic self-reliance in women of all ages and categories.
Information Department has rendered collaboration to the corporation with its artists continuously presenting composite cultural programme to people visiting the exhibition.
