London May 30 (APP): The United Kingdom fully supports the ongoing composite dialogue process and the confidence building measures between Pakistan and India. This was stated by Foreign and Commonwealth Office South Asia Group in response to a recent petition submitted to Prime Minister Gordon Brown by Justice Foundation Kashmir Centre seeking his help in addressing the Kashmir issue and human rights concerns.
The letter said: “The UK fully supports ongoing composite dialogue process and confidence building measures between Pakistan and India. We hope they build on progress to date and lead to concrete improvements in the lives of those on either side of line of control.”
It said the British Government continue to urge both the countries to seek a durable resolution to the issue of Kashmir, which takes into account the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
According to JFKC, the response also shared their concern about the human rights violations and called for an improvement in the human right situation.
“UK government through its confliction prevention pool is practically engaged in facilitating dialogue and address the causes and impact of conflict in the region.”
The JFKC delegation was led by Executive Director Prof. Nazir Ahmad Shawl.
