Srinagar May 28: Minister for Social Welfare Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil has called for close coordination between teachers and parents to secure brilliant future for students. “Both of them have stupendous responsibility for shaping life and career of younger generation and channelize their energy in right direction”, he said.
He was addressing at parents day function of Al-Huda school at Pantha-chowk here today. MLA Mrs. Khemlata Wakhloo, Farooq Andrabi and corporator Mr. Abdul Gani Khan were present on the occasion.
“Teacher is an ideal for every child”, Vakil said adding his actions, behaviour and quality have permanent impact on children whose mind he described as clean slate capable to take any impression in the initial stage. This, he said must be realized by all teachers while elucidating that a good teacher produces a good generation.
Vakil said that education sector in the state has witnessed a quantum change in expansion with hundreds of new schools established and upgraded over last few years. He said with the establishment of three universities, 6 campuses and 40 degree colleges the state was all set to emulate developed nations of the world.
He expressed concern over quality standards in government educational institutions, saying it was unfortunate that these schools were not performing upto the mark despite availability of qualified staff and other infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Wakhloo appreciated Chief Minister for rehabilitating stone carvers. She said that Azad led government would be long remembered for providing land to unit holders of stone carving, who she said had suffered a lot due to unavailability of permanent site.
