Omar 'Ridicules outlook of opposition'
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has ridiculed those who refuse to recognize the visible development on political and economic fronts during last two and the half years.
Anantnag - Listing the achievements of his Government during last two and the half years, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday ridiculed those who refuse to recognized the visible development on political and economic fronts during this period.
“These elements have kept their eyes shut”, he said adding that blind eyes only see the darkness and pre-occupied minds rebound the positivity.
Addressing a large public gathering at Qaimoh in Anantnag district, the Chief Minister said that from the day first his Government focused equal attention on political and developmental issues.
“We highlighted the importance of addressing political issues politically and carrying forward internal and external dialogues with consistency to achieve normalcy and register lasting peace in the State. I am not the person who will forget the basic political issues confronting the State when on chair and ventilate these when out of power. I as a Chief Minister of the State vehemently underlined the necessity of concentrating on resolution of basic political issues, revocation of AFSPA and reduction in the footprints of forces”, he said adding that it was during his regime that the reduction of forces took place and 40 bunkers were removed from Srinagar city. “God willing all these issues will move towards the settlement in near future”, he expressed confidence.
Omar Abdullah said that various new power projects started during his regime in the State, hundreds of new schools opened and upgraded, new degree colleges launched, new health centres established and hundreds of kilometres new roads constructed, upgraded and macadamized itself speak of the Government’s endeavour on the development front.
“Those who do not see these achievements and positive developments on political scenario, during their time only mislead public by raising political slogans and making announcements”, he said.
“We provided faculty, infrastructure and necessary staff for the institutions they announced during their time”, he said disclosing that the cabinet in its recent meeting has approved 2500 new staff for the schools announced during the regime of those who are indulging in false propaganda against the coalition Government.
Without naming PDP, the Chief Minister said that those who talk about the waters of Kashmir did not even generated a single MW of power during their time while we started about a dozen of power projects aimed at generating over 4000 MW of electricity during next eight years. “My Government aims at self reliance in power generation to remove the dependence of people on candles during power cuts”, he said elaborating on the new power schemes started under joint venture with NHPC and independently.
“Deceit is the trade mark of this party and nurturing on falsehood is its trait”, he said adding that their slogans of employment to every household and ‘goli nahi boli’ proved a total fiasco like their other promises made to people. He said that this party (PDP) raising false slogans about opening of LoC routes, even opposed the resolution in the Assembly regarding return of youth from PoK. “We have now taken initiative in this regard under the newly introduced Rehabilitation Policy to enable the youth to return and be a part of normal life activities”, he added.
The Chief Minister said that holding of panchayat elections in the State after a period of 33 years is a historic event and this achievement of his Government would go a big way to strengthen the democracy and empowering grass-root public representatives.
“While we are busy to seek all round development, reach out to people in every area and help resolve political issues of internal and external nature in an atmosphere of peace and amity, they are in search of occasions to put the situation on fire”, he said asserting that his Government would move forward with a mission and a commitment to achieve peaceful, prosperous and a develop Jammu and Kashmir where nobody will be without job, food, shelter and economic avenues.
The Chief Minister said that his Government received the crisis of employment as a legacy but it has taken various initiatives to tackle it and find out a befitting solution. “It is my Government’s initiative to provide stipend to the un-employed youth till they get absorbed in the Government or private service”, he said adding that others during their tenure only talked about providing jobs to each family.
On reaching the venue, the Chief Minister was extended a grand welcome by a big crowed raising slogans in his and in favour of his Government.
The Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Ittoo, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Devinder Singh Rana, Legislator Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Provincial President, National Conference, Ali Mohammad Dar, former Ministers, Mohammad Akbar Ganai, Peer Abdul Rashid and local leaders also spoke on the occasion.
