Sagar announces ambulances for hospitals of Rainawari, S R Ganj & Khanyar

Srinagar, July 08: One hundred and fifty beds of the inpatient department of the three hundred bedded Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital, Rainawari would be completed this year end to cater to the needs of the people living in Rainawari area and its adjoining areas.

This was disclosed at a meeting of Rogi Kalyan Samati RKS of Zone Khanyar and Zone Sri Ranbir Ganj (S R Ganj) held in the office chambers of the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar,here today. The Minister is the chairman of the RKS of the said zones.

Sagar while interacting with the committee members said that it is endeavour of the government to provide the necessary amenities to the people and the health sector tops agenda of the government. He also impressed upon the officers to implement every schemes in the central or the state sector so that the benefit of the same reaches the people. He further impressed upon the Medical Superintendents of the hospital covered under the scheme to furnish a detailed proposal for upgradation of the existing infrastructure so that the same can be covered within the stipulated time.

While citing the contribution of the Jawahar Lal Nehru and S R Ganj Hospitals, Mr. Sagar said that these are the oldest healthcare institutes of the state and various stalwarts of medicine of the state have treated patients in these hospitals. “We will soon be observing the cennetial celebrations of the JLNM Hospital as it is one of the oldest hospitals which were started by the Christian missionaries’ way back in early 20th century to treat patients here”.

The Minister was informed that 1, 64, 705; 65, 464 and 1, 04,111 patients have been treated in the hospitals of Rainawari, SR Ganj and Khanyar respectively.

Similarly, an amount of Rs. 20 lakh, 12.44 lakh, 3.50 lakh, has been generated as revenue by the hospitals of Rainawari, Khanyar and S R Ganj respectively.

The Minister also announced ambulances for the three hospitals out of his constituency development fund so that patients who are being treated in the hospitals can be taken to other institutions in case of emergency.

The meeting was attended by the chief Medical officer, Srinagar, heads of the three Hospitals and other members of the Samiti.(NAK)
