4th Annual civil defence conference held
Srinagar July 06: The 4th Annual civil defence Conference was held at police Headquarter here today organized by the J&K Civil Defence Organization. The conference was inaugurated by DG Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda.
IGP, Home Guards and Civil Defence, Mr. Dilbagh Singh, IGP Vigilance, Mr. Gopal Reddy, IGP Crime, Mr. S. M. Sahai, Director SSG, Raja Aijaz Ali, IGP Armed Police, Sheikh Owais Ahmad, IGP Traffic, Mr. M.A Shah, IGP CID, Mr. Farooq Ahmad and other senior police officers attended the conference.
Highlighting the aims and objectives of holding such conferences, the IGP Civil Defence said that it provides platform for discussing strategies to be adopted while dealing different kinds of disasters, whether man-made or natural, so as to ensure minimum human and property losses. He said J&K is multi-disaster prone state and is often struck by harsh floods, snow avalanches, landslides, earthquakes besides major incidents of violence and road accidents. He said that central Government is seriously contemplating to revamp the Civil Defence set up throughout the country. He called upon the voluntary organizations to always remain in a state of preparedness to meet any exigency arising due to natural calamity or man-made disasters.
Addressing the conference, DGP CID, Dr. Ashok Bhan made suggestions for strengthening the Civil Defence setup in the state.
