Srinagar July 03: Life returned to normal in Kashmir valley today where three day general strike called by breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) ended yesterday.
The HC had given the strike call in protest against the killing of four youths in security force firing at Baramulla, governments failure to arrest those involved in the rape and murder of two women at Shopian and continued detention of separatist leaders.
Shops and business establishments reopened this morning and traffic on all routes was normal. Work in government offices, banks and other semi-government offices was also normal after three-days strike. Educational institutions were also functioning normally.
Similar reports were also received from other major towns and Tehsil headquarters in Kashmir valley.
However, strike in Shopian continued for the 34th day today as the locals said the Hartal will be lifted only when the culprits involved in the rape and killing of Afroza and Asiya are arrested.
Life in Baramulla and Sopore towns also remained affected for the fifth day due to restrictions. (UNI)
