Kashmir is abode of great sufis and saints: Shafi Pandit
SRINAGAR, JULY 03:President, Hostel Association of India and Ex-Chairman, J&K Public Service Commission (PSC), Mohammad Shafi Pandit said that the strong influence of Sheikh-ul-Alam on youth is encouraging factor to ensure intellectual unity. He said that to ensure mutual understanding and brotherhood among various sections of the society, we should construct bridges instead of walls.
Shafi was addressing a mammoth gathering of youth, belonging to several states of India soon after inaugurating formally National Youth Camp at Youth Hostel here today.
He said that Kashmir Valley is a miniature India as people speaking different languages and professing different faiths live here with great spirit of tranquility and patience. He said that Kashmir is also known for its spiritual ambience as well, as it is abode of great sufis and saints. He said that the symbol of secular character is great king of Kashmir popularly known as Budshah during whose regime Kashmir progressed in all spheres of life.
Speaking about the role of youth in transformation of society, Psndit said that highest chunk of population comprises of youth. So, it is the sole responsibility of the youth to pick up challenges like environmental pollution and cultural hazards.
Calling Dr. Subbarao an icon of human bondage, Pandit said we should learn from him service to humanity.
Later, Mr, Pandit flagged off rallies of visiting youth towards Lal Ded Hospital and river Jehlum for cleansing operation. Volunteers of Kashmir Group, Ms Mehjabin Bhat and Shamima Ji led the youth towards their destinations for cleaning the banks of river Jehlum and premises of Lal Ded Hospital.
Director National Youth Project, Dr. Subarao, eminent Gandhian, Madam Radha Ji, S.P. Verma and officers of Environment, Ecology and Remote Sensing attended the function.
