Nearly 11000 Yatris perform Darshan yesterday

Srinagar, June 27: According to Shri B. B. Vyas, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, 10,990 pilgrims had darshan at the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji yesterday. He said that 7,000 pilgrims left Baltal Base Camp while another batch of 3,000 pilgrims commenced the Yatra from the Nunwan Base Camp early in the morning today.

Shri Vyas stated that 1,541 pilgrims had also left Jammu today for the Nunwan and Baltal Base Camps. He also informed that the work on improving the Chandanwari-Holy Cave track is proceeding apace to facilitate the pilgrims undertaking the Yatra on the traditional route.

Shri Vyas once again reiterated that no old or infirm person and children below the age of 12 years will be permitted to undertake the Yatra on the Sheshnag route in view of the weather conditions and the difficult snow route. The lady pilgrims have also been advised to avoid undertaking the Yatra on this route, at least for the next week or so, in view of the arduous nature and condition of the track. He also emphasized that Registration Slips are being checked at Nunwan and Chandanwari to ensure that no unregistered pilgrim is allowed to proceed on the Yatra on this route.

Shri Vyas added that one person namely Badhur Walla Bhai S/O Popot Bhai R/O Hariom Nagar, Suret, Gujarat died at Pissu Top yesterday, while two other persons, Prema Kohili W/O M. J. Kohili R/O Thana, Mumbai and Vinake Balla Ram S/O Balla Ram Kohili R/O Rajghar, Mumbai, also passed away at the SKIMS, Soura yesterday, where they had been admitted for treatment.
