PDP expresses surprise over doc’s suspension
Srinagar June 25: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democrartic Party (PDP) has expressed surprise at the suspension of Dr Nighat in connection with the Shopian triple rape and murder case.
The suspended doctor was part of the team of doctors brought from Pulwama to conduct second post mortem after the local team of doctors had failed to do justice to their job under pressure from the government.
In a statement, issued here today, a party spokesman termed the suspension order as a clear case of victimization of an officer who has stood by truth and her conscious and has exposed the official conspiracy to hush up the case.
“She was the only doctor who after the second post mortem had declared that it was not a case of drowning or accident but the unfortunate victims had been raped before being murdered”, the statement said adding, “Now it seems that the doctor is being punished for speaking the truth and failing to budge before the government pressure”.
The spokesman added that the step of the government is the part of the tactics to divert the attention of people from the main issue of identifying the culprits and awarding punishment. He said that the recommendations of Justice Jan’s commission were being selectively implemented as a result of which very lenient action has been taken against the police officer allegedly involved in the destruction of the evidences.
While the commission has recommended their prosecution the government seems to have deliberately chosen the lengthy route of departmental action, which could result in their acquittal from criminal liability, the spokesman said. He said that the people of Shopain and Valley were looking keenly at the progress of the investigation and would expect speedy action in criminal investigation.
