Rs. 43 cr disbursed by banks among unit holders in Kupwara

Srinagar, June 25: In order to provide financial succour to the unemployed youth of the Kupwara district, an amount of Rs. 42.71 crore has been disbursed among various unit holders upto March 2009 against Rs. 66.33 crore for setting up of their own income generating units in their respective areas.
This was stated in a District Level Consultative Committee review meeting, chaired by District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, Mr.  Showkat Ahmad Mir here today.
The Lead District Bank Officer, Chief Planning Officer, Officers of sponsoring agencies, bankers of the district, representatives of the Reserve Bank of India and NABARD were present in the meeting.
The Lead district Bank Officer highlighted the progress regarding the implementation of various schemes achieved during the last financial year.
Iit was given out that under Agriculture and its allied sectors, the financial institutions have released an amount of Rs. 14.54 crore for purchasing of agriculture inputs and other farming activities upto the March, 2009.
While under Small Scale Industries sectors, an amount of Rs. 15.52 crore was disbursed among the entrepreneurs for setting up of their own units. Similarly, under OPS, an amount of Rs. 12.65 crore stands disbursed by the financial institutions during the last fiscal.
It was further disclosed that 689 cases were registered under SGSY, 17 groups were registered under Kisan Credit Card Programme and 380 cases registered during the same period.
The meeting further said that J&K Bank has organized 100 Financial Literacy Awareness camps in different areas of the district for educating unemployed youth so that they could get benefits of the schemes already launched by State and Central Governments.
The Chairman exhorted upon the bankers, sponsoring agencies and other concerned to maintain a close coordination for better implementation of the schemes and cover such units which are viable and result oriented. He directed the officers to organize awareness camps for entrepreneurs and common people especially in rural areas to highlight the aims and objectives of the schemes being covered by various financial institutions.
Fixing the target to financial institutions of the district, Mr. Showkat directed them to finalize all the pending loan cases under various schemes upto ending December 2009.
