Govt working to make J&K vibrant State: Dy CM

Srinagar, June 23: Reaffirming government’s resolve of changing the development scenario for better, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has said efforts are underway to accelerate the drive for augmenting urban infrastructure of cities and towns of the State.

Stating that the Central government is keen to usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in the State, the Deputy Chief Minister said the government has approached Centre for release of funds so that the dream envisaged to make J&K a model state is realized.

Tara Chand said this during his interaction with several deputations, which called on him today.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the Central government has assured to address all pressure points to revive the State’s economy, help build new infrastructure and improve status of various development indices so that Jammu and Kashmir emerges on the scene as a vibrant State. He said the coalition government would work to explore options of suitably accommodating our competent human resource by creating avenues of employability in the State. He said several flagship projects which are currently on with liberal funding from the Centre, will also fast-track equitable development of the State.

Earlier, several deputations apprised him about various problems being faced by them and sought their redressal. They also submitted memoranda of demands to the Deputy Chief Minister.

A deputation from Bijbehara town, led by Mohammad Abdullah Nadaf, brought to the notice of the Chief Minister, several issues which included revamping of civic facilities in the town, early-completion of work on Community Centre, besides issuing instructions to Bijbehara Municipal Committee for proper maintenance of town.

Giving on-spot instructions, the Deputy Chief Minister directed Director, Local Bodies, and Kashmir for assessing the problems of the people and their speedy redressal.

Another deputation of UEED Employees’ Council also met Tara Chand and submitted a memorandum of demands which included various problems faced by them. They demanded framing of joint seniority of employees by the department and regularization of casual labourers.

The Deputy Chief Minister heard the deputations and assured them that their demands would be looked into.
