Baramulla: Rs. 21.92 cr. proposed under NREGA
Baramulla, June 22 – In order to provide job to labour class in Baramulla district, the Rural Development Department under NREGA has proposed Rs. 21.92 crore for funding. By this amount, 3 crore mandays would be generated in the district. Rs. 10 crores have already been allotted for the purpose so far by Union Ministry of Rural Development. The department has also printed 90,000 job cards out of which 15000 cards have been distributed so far.
This was given out during a meeting of officers of the department convened by District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, to review the notable achievements made during last financial year under various programmes and preparation of budget proposals for current fiscal.
About last year’s achievements, the meeting was told that under Total Sanitation Programme, toilet facilities were provided to 151 schools and 765 individual households at a cost of Rs. 44 lakhs. It was informed that under Self Help Group Revolutionary fund Rs. 1.03 crore were provided to 103 sanctioned cases adding 33 Self Help Groups also were provided Rs. 25.60 lakhs as credit cum subsidy during the period.
On this occasion, the District Development Commissioner emphasized the need to further accelerate the pace of work by completing the ongoing works so that its benefits percolate down wards and reach to common people.
