PDP's three years tenure various projects were taken for development of Srinagar City
Srinagar June 17: PDP during its three years tenure had drawn a viable road map to rebuilt the Capital town of Srinagar on modern scientific basis and started work on some mega projects while as some were in the off in but unfortunately after the transfer of power at state level in 2005 the priorities of the government changed which consolidated on some non productive works which in no way benefited the citizens of the Srinagar city. Present government is also following the suit by making hollow promises of development of the city.
Addressing District committee meeting of Srinagar District at party Head quarters PDP president Ms Mehbooba Mufti said that PDP’s socio economic and political agenda was received well by the people of the state especially the Srinagar people who after along long time witnessed progress on both economic and political fronts between 2002 and 2005. Revival of Srinagar city as a modern capital city with rapid transport system including construction of about a dozen flyovers, sewerage and drainage and uninterrupted power and water supply, beatification of Jehlum banks, preservation and protection of monuments and historical buildings , reconstruction of Eidgah and last but not the least preservation and protection of the water bodies including world famous Dal Lake and Anchar were top on the agenda of the PDP. But unfortunately after the transfer of power in 2005 the road map was put on back burner and investment on non productive projects were given significance and the present government has no priorities at all excepting hollow sloganeering to hoodwink the people. We were successful in keeping working in tandem on both economic and political fronts, kept peace process rolling and at the same time rebuilt the economic and developmental infrastructure in the state. However the present government lacks both will and direction and it seems as if there is no government at all.
Ms Mehbooba Mufti asked the party cadres to gear up for taking forward the pro people political agenda of the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue envisioned in party’s self rule formula and asserted that her party will certainly come up to the expectations of the people by demonstrating practically on all fronts and will perform as a vibrant opposition party in and out side the state assembly. PDP has to shoulder tremendous responsibility as a responsive opposition, more so under the current scenario
when the present government for its petty partisan interests is playing with not only the sentiments of the people but also shielding the worst criminals of humanity as happened in Shopian a fortnight back.
Party General Secretary Mohammad Dilawar Mir Chief Spokesperson Naeem Akhter , Syed ALtaf Bukhari, Ab Rashid Kabuley and youth president Bashir Assad were also present in the meeting.
