8th All India Water Sports Championship Concluded

Srinagar June 09: The 8th all India water sports championship concluded here at Dal Lake on 8th June 2009 The week long sports bonanza attracted one and all during the interval and was appreciated by people of all walls of life. Sh. S.S Salathia Minister for Industries and commerce was chief guest on the conclusion he concluded ceremony which was marked by a festive look as the teams of all the state Police and paramilitary forces paraded in Shikaras passing through the fresh water of Dal Lake.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police was declared over all champions in the event as it claimed the highest number of medals in the various events. The Jammu and Kashmir achieved 22 points in Kayaking by winning 6 Gold and 02 Solver medals while as B.S.F got 15 points by 06 Silver and one Gold Andra Pradesh got 05 points by winning one gold and 2 bronze.
In canoeing Jammu and Kashmir got 17 points by winning 5 gold and one silver medal while as B.S.F got and points by winning 1 silver and 6 bronze medals . Similarly Manipur also got 8 points by winning 2 gold and one silver medal.
In rowing C.R.P.F got 10 points by winning 2 gold and 2 silver medals, Punjab also got 10 points by winning 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Speaking on the conclusion ceremony the Minister for Industries and Commerce called upon the participants for showing sportsmanship in all fields of life. He congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir Police for lifting the championship. He appreciated Jammu and Kashmir Police under the leadership of DGP Jammu and Kashmir Sh. Kuldeep Khoda for organizing such an event. He asked the DGP for considering the rank promotion for those Police personnel who won medals in the event Earlier DGP Jammu and Kashmir Kuldeep Khoda gave the detailed account of the event.
Later the prizes and trophies were distributed among the teams by the chief guest.
