Srinagar June 04: Concerned over violence in the valley for the past four days in the wake of Shopian incident, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today asked the youth not to fall prey to the machinations of "vested interests" who provoke them to take law into their hands.
"I appeal the youth not to fall prey to the machinations of vested interests who provoke you to take law into your hands", Abdullah said in a statement here this evening.
Accusing these vested interests of snatching the livelihood of the poor and dealing a severe blow to tourism, the mainstay of the valley's economy, Abdullah said the aeroplanes that arrived full of tourists are now coming empty.
Stating that people in the tourism sector have been hit hard by the continued violence in the valley, he hoped better sense would prevail on those who instigate youth to pelt stones and enforce shutdowns.
Reiterating his government's commitment to dig out the truth in Shopian incident, Abdullah said he wwould not permit anybody to suppress anything about the death of Nilofar and Asiya.
The discovery of the bodies of these two women under "mysterious circumstances" led to the current protests in Shopian.
Asking political parties not to politicize the human tragedy which involves the death of two innocent women, the chief minister said he was as eager as anybody else to know the truth and find out what exactly led to their death.
