Will bring transparency, accountability in KPS if elected: Raina
Jammu, May 9: Blaming the previous leadership of Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS), contesting candidate for the post of new KPS president AK Raina said that it has failed to come upto the expectations of the Kashmiri Pandit community during the past one and half decades.
AK Raina, said that if would be elected as president of Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, “My first task will be to bring complete transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Sabha.”
Raina was addressing media day before election of new president of KPS. Election for the new president are going to held on May 10, after a gap of 20 years about 2000 members of the Sabha would exercise their franchise. Tough fight between A K Raina and AN Sandhu has been expected for the post president.
He told media that, “The educational, medical and financial needs to the deserving members of the community could not be met because of the fact that some people with vested interests did not allow effective and transparent functioning of various wings of the organisation.”
“The same group of office bearers at the helm of affairs for more than one and half decades had also resulted in fatigue, inertia and sloth creeping into the functioning of the Sabha,” he said.
The educated, conscientious and alert members of the organisation, who have seen through the designs of the people with vested interests, are fully prepared to foil their plot to recapture power through proxy.”
Raina also expressed anguish over the non-availability of ‘ghats’ for the members of the community to perform their religious rituals adding said, “After being elected, the Sabha will approach various authorities in this regard and ensure that proper sheltered ghats are constructed at various places in order to mitigate the problems being faced by the community members.”
He further assured that he would involve all the prominent members of the community in the decision making process and decentralize the functioning of the Sabha by forming various committees including the advisory committees of the senior community members.
Making a fervent appeal to members of the Sabha, Raina said, “All the members of the Sabha should come out in full numbers to vote and ensure that the much needed change is brought about in order to restore Kashmiri Pandit Sabha to its pristine glory.” (NAK)
