Life returns to normal in Kashmir after 50-hour-long strike
Srinagar May 08: Life returned to normal today in the Kashmir Valley where 50-hour-long general strike, called by separatists since May 5 from 1800 hrs, against the holding of fourth phase of polling yesterday, ended. Shops and busines establishments were open and traffic on all routes was normal since this morning.
Government offices and educational institutions, which wore a deserted look during the strike period, were also functioning with full attendance. Banks and other commercial establishments and petrol pumps were opened up.
Similar reports were also received from north, central and south Kashmir. The separatist organisations had called for strike in the Kashmir valley, which was supported by among others Dukhtaran-e-Milat (DeM) and Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association.
