Four Day Folk-Artists Camps inaugurated at Kala Kendra.
Jammu, April 07: Sixteen eminent artists from all over the Jammu region are participating in a four day Women Folk-Artists Camp inaugurated here at Kala Kender today.
The event has been jointly organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Veraj Kala Kender Jammu. The camp was inaugurated by Zaffar Iqbal Manhas Secretary Cultural Academy, here this afternoon in presence of galaxy of Art, lovers and Intellectuals.
In his inaugural speech Zaffar Iqbal Manhas stated that different forms of our Rural and Folk Art reflects our bold and vibrant approach towards the life adding that our rustic art presents unadulterated and real picture of our feelings and emotions. He said this camp will also help our eminent rural artists to explore themselves in front of Art Critics of our State and is also provides an interaction opportunity.
Smt. Raj Bharti of Veeraj organization said that there is an urgent need for documentation of our Rural Art which is facing a threat of extinction due to rapid development. She also impressed upon the rural artists to develop and document this form of Art so that it could be preserved for all generations to come.
The eminent arists includes Pritma Singh, Paryanka, Shashi Padha, Manisha Devi, Raina Sharma, Shashi Bala, Preeto, Sarna Devi,Kamlee, Sita Devi,Rajya Laxmi, Sharda, Payaree Devi, Naresh Kumari.
O P Sharma, Special Officer for Cultural Activities also spoke on the occasion and presented vote of thanks.(NAK)
