Fresh snowfall at Gulmarg, Pahalgam, upper reaches, rain in plains
Srinagar Mar 21: The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, famed Pahalgam and other upper reaches in the Kashmir Valley experienced fresh snowfall, while plains, including Srinagar, were lashed by rains.
Meanwhile, people in the Ladakh region continued to shiver with minimum temperature still between minus two degrees to minus 5 degrees.
About three to four inches of fresh snowfall was experienced on famed Gulmarg slopes last night, much to the delight of tourists and skiers. However, about half a feet snowfall was recorded at Affarwat, Khilanmarg and other heights in the area.
Majority areas near the Line of Control in Keran, Karnah and Machil sector, which remained cut off from the rest of the state due to heavy snowfall during the past about one month, also had fresh snowfall last night.
A report from Pahalgam, base camp of Shri Amarnath shrine, said the entire area received light snowfall last night, resulting cold conditions.
However, moderate to heavy snowfall was experienced at cave shrine and its periphery, Sheshnag, Mahaguns, Panjtherni and Chandanwari.
Srinagar and its adjoining areas experienced 9.4 mm rainfall since last evening.
The other plain areas in the Kashmir Valley also experienced rains with Kokernag in south Kashmir recording highest 20.6 mm rainfall since last evening.
