Opposition stages walkout, says govt has no employment policy
Jammu, Mar 06, 2009: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today witnessed uproar as the opposition members grilled the government for not having any policy to meet the rising unemployment problem in the state.
Reacting to the reply from the government given by the Minister for Industries, Commerce, Labour and Employment Surjit Singh Slathia that no promises were made of providing job at least to one member of each family in the state,
the opposition members of the BJP, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party and Peoples Democratic Party created ruckus in the House and shouted slogans.
Amid slogans berozgaron ko rozgar do, yeh sarkar nikammi hai, the opposition members assembled in the well of the House.
"Government has not yet come up with an employment policy to meet the problem of increasing unemployment," Ashok Khajuria, BJP leader shouted.
Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone while pacifying the situation said the opposition members misquoted the Ministers reply.
"The Minister actually wanted to say that the policy has not been framed yet but Committee will be set up soon as it may take some time," Mr Lone said.
However, the opposition members created uproar asserting that the government is playing with the sentiments of the youth and staged walkout from the House. UNI
