4 lakh job card issued, 40 lakh mandays generated under NREGA during last 3 years: Sagar

Jammu, March 05: The Minister for Rural Development, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today said in the Legislative Assembly that 3.92 lakh job cards have been provided to rural jobless persons during last three years under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. He said during the execution of various rural development works, 40 lakh mandays have been provided to the job card holders.

Replying to supplementaries to a question by Mr. Abdul Majid Wani, the Minister said that 17109 and 18579 job cards have been issued during the year 2007-08 and 2008-09 respectively, in Doda constituency. He said that out of 17109 job cards issued during the year 2007-08, 2731, 5762, 4455 and 4161 have been provided to the beneficiaries of Bhagwah, Doda, Marmat and Gundna blocks of Doda constituency, whileas, he said that in these blocks, 3446, 6509, 4463 and 4161 job cards have respectively been issued to the beneficiaries during the year 2008-09.

The Minister said that during the year 2007-08, 114 works costing Rs. 1.19 crore have been completed in Bhagwah block benefiting 1423 job card holders. Similarly, in Doda, Marmat and Gundna blocks of Doda constituency, 186,187 and 121 works costing Rs 1.79 crore, Rs 1.26 crore and Rs 2.13 crore benefiting 3291, 1763 and 3367 job card holders respectively have been completed during the year 2007-08.

Mr. Sagar said that during the year 2008-09, 65,161, 153 and 94 works costing Rs 63.5 lakh, Rs 97.46 lakhs, Rs 69.37 and Rs 83.74 lakh respectively have been completed in Bhagwah, Doda, Marmat and Gundna blocks of Doda Constituency. The works, he said have benefited 6789 job card holders.(NAK)
