CHAK SULTANS (1561-1586 A.D), GHAZI SHAH-THE FIRST CHAK RULER(1561-1563 A.D)
From the very day of accession of the throne, Ghazi Shah made all the efforts to make the state politically viable and economically sound. To Check the infiltration to the valley, he brought under his control the surrounding territories of Sakardu, Gilgit, Kishtwar and Pakhil and appointed efficient Governors there. Disgruntled elements in the country again conspired to bring him down and sought the help of Abul Mali, the Mughal Chief, but were defeated.
He administered the country with firmness and never showed any leniency while administering the justice. Any act of indiscipline was taken serious notice and the culprit punished with all severity. He even did not spare his son who objected to the punishment given to his servant for plucking fruit in an orchard and, in a fit of rage, inflicted moral blow on his uncle who was sent there by the king to admonish the prince. The prince was sentenced to death and his remains were exhibited on the gibbet.
The king lived a simple life and spent his leisure time in composing verses.In his old age he suffered from leprosy and lost his fingers and eye sight consequently he abdicted the throne in favour of his brother Hussain Shah.
