IS PEOPLES LEAGUE LOSING ITS CREDIBILITY OR NOT!

Party is unexceptionable when used to refer to a participant in a social arrangement. League is a formal organization of people or groups of people whose mission to develop a clear and strong visual vocabulary in getting their message across; everyone can agree that the campaign to get the information out there to the people has been a resounding success. There is something else we can bring , something extremely powerful and something common people want more than anything.

 

The power to spread information like it is never been spread before. The Truth Movement itself, its numbers and its widespread message, is living proof of this power. It is the ultimate grass roots movement and still gaining momentum all the time. But all steps should be taken in contrast with democracy : to preserve and protect individual rights and freedoms, a democratic people must work together to shape the party of their choosing.

 

And the principal way of doing that is through political parties. Political parties are voluntary organizations that link the people and develop to rapport . Political parties provide a way for citizens to hold people accountable for their actions. Democratic political parties have faith in the principles of democracy so that they recognize and respect one authority.

 

Like any democracy, members of various political parties reflect the diversity of the cultures in which they arise. Some are small and built around a set of political beliefs. Others are organized around economic interests, or shared history. Still others are loose alliances of different citizens who may only come together occasionally. All democratic political parties, whether they are small movements or large national coalitions, share the values of compromise and tolerance. They know that only through broad alliances and cooperation with other political parties and organizations can they provide the leadership and common vision that will win the support of the people of the nation.

 

Democratic parties recognize that political views are fluid and changeable, and that consensus can often arise out of the clash of ideas and values in peaceful, free, and public debate. In a democracy, the struggle between political parties is not a fight for survival, but a competition to serve the people. Here in Kashmir the disintegration of peoples League started with the integration of League in 1992 and later in 1998.

 

The factions thus formed as S. Hamid group which represented by League leaders like Bashir Ahmad Tota , Gh. Qadir Hagroo, Manzoor Ahmad Malik , Farooq Ahmad Wani and Mohammad Maqbool Sofi .In 1998 League further divided into several splinter groups like Nayeem Khan cluster -who played pivotal role in the disintegration of Peoples League and due to which it got fragmented into various factions – Nayeem Khan formed National Front ,one faction of Peoples League was led by Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, Ab. Salam Rather, Gh. Nabi War, Abdul Qayoom, Gh. Nabi Najar ,however Mohammad Maqbool Chanapori formed International Front .

 

The vertical and horizontal divisions of party paralyzed the capacity to act and behave as a professional revelry because of the division trauma. The unification bids by several leaders proved counter productive for League as no long lasting solution could get league out of the situation of distress and uncertainty with the result Peoples League remain dashed to ground. No Matter Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has always utilized its capacity and energy for the grand alliance of the party and on November 2007 when Sheed-e-Azeemat (martyr of determination) was released from Indian notorious Jail (Tihar )again Mukhtar Waza met the released leader when party was in the great movement of crisis, lobbyism, schism and the inward diversion still already prevalent .

 

The element seems to be part and parcel of the genetic make-up and the foundation of the party called Jammu Kashmir Peoples League . Since the formation of Peoples League on October 1974 , the lobbyism was inherent . The flip side of the story is that the party came into existence as a resistance political force which was to win the political and diplomatic recognition for the people`s struggle for the freedom of Jammu Kashmir. In unification bid of 1998 Nayeem Ahmad Khan floated National Front , Bashir Ahmad Tota , Nazir Ahmad Khan, Gh. Mohammad Khan Sopori ,Maqbool Chanapori with their own versions of Peoples League and some leaders of the party remained aloof with a special reference of Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi. Sheikh Abdul Aziz Peoples League (basic) was actively supported by its leaders which include Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Gh. Nabi Darzi, Parwaiz Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Yaseen Attai, Mohammad Ashraf Sofi and Gh. Nabi Waseem : the unified grand association of Peoples League Peerbagh also failed –pivotal role played to form impressive political platform in the form of Peoples League was Waza for which executive Committee was stipulated to guide the political and policy making process of Party . Now Peoples League has to play the pivotal role in the freedom struggle of Kashmir but quorum failed to play the role for which it was meant and to which it is existing although it has given ample sacrifices including its two towering leaders Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Aziz and Shaheed S. Hamid .

 

If Peoples League maintains the discipline and brings a change in the coordination to make it a point to implemented its programmes promptly. The skirmishes which have surged within its rank and file have long history At this time Kashmir freedom struggle demands a positive role from party and its leadership so again they must think in terms of majestic unification. Whether League posses the capacity to lead the national aspirations of the Kashmiris or not but the political situation has provided them the chance to lead the on going separatist movement. However the situation is tending towards-points the other way. The current political vista demands the proactive role on the part of its leadership in this connection the conglomerate represents the aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir because people have responded overwhelmingly.

 

What is the real politic about Kashmir and we deserve the leadership from Peoples League which should play the role to lead the Kashmir in the critical hour of the crisis and the rare movement of history which comes after very long toil if party fails to lead the people`s movement then they are losing the chance which is watched very carefully and vigilantly by common stock of people in the streets of cities ,towns and hamlets of Kashmir.
